About 22 young Ghanaian footballers will get the rare opportunity of showcasing their talent in the biggest youth football competition, Dallas Cup, in Texas, USA in March.
Satellite City Football Club’s participation in the competition has been made possible by America-based Ghanaian football agent, Robert Osei Mensah, and it would be the first time any Ghanaian team is participating in the competition.
Victory in the Dallas Cup would earned the Ghana team, $1million in a competition that often sees strong representation of other youth sides from top European football clubs including Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United, among others.
Explaining the rationale behind Ghana’s participation to the Graphic Sports last Friday, Mensah said it was to afford the Ghanaian side an opportunity to experience world class football outside the country.
"I also want to give the players the needed exposure, so that those who excel can also be signed by top teams in America because the competition attracts a lot of scouts from all over the world", the football agent noted.
In order to put the Ghanaian team in good shape ahead of the competition, the team, whose trip is supported by MTN, are expected to leave Ghana in mid-February for the competition which starts on March 25-April 1.
According to Mensah, he has engaged the services of a coach from the junior side of MLS side, Red Bull, to sharpen the Ghanaian team which include players like John Otu from Dreams Academy and Kingsley Owusu, ahead of the competition.
