GPL Matchday 8: Gold Stars pip Hearts of Oak at home to maintain lead
Surprise Ghana Premier League leaders, Bibiani Gold Stars, on Sunday, October 27, defied the odds to pip giants, Accra Hearts of Oak 1-0 at the University of Ghana Stadium to maintain their lead atop the standings.
Top striker, Samuel Atta Kumi, coolly tapped in substitute Kwame Nkoah's well placed pass in the 70th minute after robbing Hearts midfielder, Samuel Amofa, of the ball in the home team's half with the defence caught flat-footed, for the only goal of the match.

Not even a controversial penalty awarded the Phobians in the 76th minute could salvage the day for the beleaguered hosts as man of the match, Emmanuel Kobi, in post for Gold Stars, again saved Hamza Issah's poorly taken spot kick.
Asante Kotoko's pursuit of a fourth consecutive victory was halted in a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Basake Holy Stars at the Crosby Awuah Memorial Stadium in Nzema Anyinase today, October 27.
Kotoko took the lead in the 36th minute with a well-placed strike from Albert Amoah, looking to continue their winning momentum.
However, the home side rallied back and found an equalizer in the 81st minute, securing a crucial point and denying Kotoko the opportunity to ascend to the top of the league table.
Heart of Lions secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Nsoatreman at the Kpando Sports Stadium yesterday, bringing an end to a five-match winless run.
Despite a closely contested match, Lions controlled the game with 51% possession compared to Nsoatreman's 42%.
