The extension of the deadline is to give taekwondo clubs in educational institutions who are currently on vacation, the opportunity to also participate in the competition when schools reopen.

Like the previous competitions, participating individuals or clubs are expected to submit a three-minute video clip on taekwondo aerobics and another story about “How taekwondo changes my life” to the organisers.

The annual competition, which is being organised by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in collaboration with the GTF, is also being sponsored by Rana Motors. It is scheduled to take place in December.

The President of the GTF, Frederick Lartey Otu told the Daily Graphic that 20 taekwondo groups or individuals with the best video clips would be selected and honoured aside the best three winners, who would emerge as overall winners.

He noted that only taekwondo athletes or clubs registered under the GTF were eligible to participate and urged them to take part in the contest so that they would have the chance to win taekwondo uniforms and equipment.

Mr Lartey Otu described taekwondo as one of the active and finest sports disciplines in the country and said the sport helped in self-defence.

“People must disabuse their minds that taekwondo is a violent sport. Taekwondo is a disciplined sport and aids people to be able to defend themselves when the need be,” he concluded.
