Jordan Ayew nails it for Swansea
Having failed to hit the back of the net in the opening two league games against Southampton and Manchester United, Swansea followed up their midweek four-goal cup victory at MK Dons with a 2-0 win at Crystal Palace.
Jordan Ayew scored his first Premier League goal and made it 2-0 for the Swans after Tammy Abrahams had opened the scoring.
The Ghanaian striker beat Wayne Hennessey with a low finish late in the second half after pouncing on a mistake from the hosts to add a second.
Palace, who have now won just one of their last 13 league meetings with Swansea, drop down to 19th place in the table as they await their first league point under new boss Frank de Boer.
Ayew could have opened his account as early as the third minute when spotted by Abraham in the box, but he headed wide from the game's first chance.
A relieved manager Paul Clement said in a post match interview that the victory was prove that his side could score goals.
“There is a lot of scrutiny at this level, so when you go a couple of games without scoring then people start asking questions,’’ admitted Clement.
“I think we have proved in the last two games that we can score goals because six in two is pretty good.
“It’s good that the strikers are scoring and it’s a real positive for us.
“Jordan (Ayew) and Tammy (Abraham) backed up their midweek goals with two in the Premier League today.”
