Hearts of Oak rule out Ogum as Dramani’s replacement
Accra Hearts of Oak have dismissed reports linking former Asante Kotoko head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum to the club's vacant coaching position following the departure of Mas-Ud Didi Dramani.
The Phobians parted ways with Dramani last week after a disappointing 2025/26 campaign in which the club failed to win any silverware.
The decision was announced in a statement issued by the club's board following what it described as a comprehensive review of the season.
Dramani, a former assistant coach of the Black Stars, joined Hearts at the start of last season but was unable to guide the club to a major success, prompting changes to the technical team.
However, a source close to the club told the Graphic Sports that the decision to part ways with the coach was not personal but was based on the club's desire for a different approach.
"Dramani is a good coach, but not creative. No one has anything against him," the source said.
According to the source, Hearts had not yet begun the process of recruiting a new head coach, although plans were underway to identify a suitable replacement capable of meeting the club's ambitions.
The source explained that experience and the ability to deliver results would be key considerations in the appointment process.
"If the advert comes out for a new coach, we'll assess applicants based on their experience and what they can do. Based on that, we'll take a decision," the source hinted.
Following Dramani's exit, several media reports suggested that Ogum, who currently coaches the Black Starlets and previously managed Asante Kotoko, was being considered for the role.
However, the source firmly dismissed the speculation, insisting that Hearts had not contacted Ogum or any other coach regarding the vacancy.
According to the source, while the club is determined to chart a new technical direction, no decision has yet been made on Dramani's successor.
Supporters and the public have, therefore, been urged to treat reports linking any coach to the position as mere speculation until an official announcement is made.
