Jojo Wollacott returns to England after disappointing spell in Scotland

Ghanaian goalkeeper Jojo Wollacott has swapped the Scottish Premiership for League One in England, signing a two-year deal with Crawley Town after leaving Hibernian.

The 27-year-old shot-stopper joined Hibs last year on a three-year contract, reuniting with former manager Lee Johnson. However, his time in Scotland was limited, making only eight appearances in all competitions.

Wollacott struggled to dislodge established goalkeeper David Marshall and failed to convince the Hibs hierarchy he deserved the starting spot. He made his debut for the club in the Europa Conference League qualifiers but saw most of his eight appearances come as a backup.

This move sees Wollacott return to England, where he spent most of his senior career. He joins Crawley Town, managed by Scott Lindsey, who previously worked with Wollacott at Swindon Town.

Hibernian Sporting Director Malky Mackay expressed his gratitude to Wollacott: "First and foremost, we thank Jojo for his efforts during his time with us. Unfortunately, we couldn't offer him the regular game time he desired. We agreed it was best for him to continue his career down south, in a league he knows well. Everyone at the club wishes Jojo the best of luck for the future."

Wollacott spoke to Crawley Town's official website about his move: "I'm delighted to get this deal done. It was a quick turnaround, but I'm happy it happened quickly. Last season wasn't what I'd hoped for, so I needed a solution. I know Scott [Lindsey] well from Swindon, and I enjoyed working with him. This felt like a great fit."

He continued, "He [Lindsey] explained how he wants the team to play and how he wants me to play. Hopefully, we can continue to work well together. I also know Steve Hale, the goalkeeping coach, so I feel comfortable here. Now I just can't wait to get going."

Wollacott will be hoping for a fresh start at Crawley Town, aiming to secure regular playing time and potentially reignite his international career with Ghana.
