Razak Abugri and Raymond Numeshie won the gold in the 60kg and 100kg categories, respectively, while Eliazer Doodo clinched bronze in the 73kg category.

Ghana’s Abugri received the best Judoka award, with the Ghana team being adjudged the team of the tournament.

Meanwhile, Team Ghana will take part in a training programme being organised by the International Judo Federation to introduce them to the techniques of the sport.

The president of the Ghana Judo Association, Emmanuel Tetteh, told the Daily Graphic that the championship served as preparatory ground for the Ghana judo squad ahead of next month’s All Africa Games in Brazzaville.

He expressed concern about undue delay in the release of funds by the Ministry of Youth and Sports for the team’s preparation for the games, saying the delay is undermining their build-up for the games.

He disclosed that 10 athletes scheduled to participate would be conditioned to compete favourably and win medals for the nation.
