FA Cup Chairman, Kurt Okraku conducting last Tuesday draw

Kotoko face Storm Academy

Record FA Cup champions, Kumasi Asante Kotoko, will make a tricky trip to Mpraeso to play minnows Storm Academy in an interesting MTN FA Cup Round of 16 fixture next week.

The Porcupine Warriors' northern zone clash with Division Two Storm Academy was the highlight of the Round of 16 draw held yesterday at the Alisa Hotel in Accra which kept all six Premier League clubs. 

The nine-time winners will be hoping to take another step towards the MTN FA Cup title as they look to atone for last year's loss to Medeama SC in the final.

In the other northern zone pairings, Premier League leaders, Wa All Stars will engage Wamanafo Mighty Royals, Real Tamale United will play host to premiership campaigners Bechem United in Tamale, while Wa Rockets FC host Asokwa Deportivo FC. 

In the southern zone, 1986 champions, Okwawu United, and Sekondi Hasaacas (1985 winners) will do battle at Nkawkaw, Elmina Sharks play host to True Democracy at Elmina, sensational West Africa Football Academy play Emmanuel FC at Sogakope while Coach Ben Zola’s Samartex FC welcome Liberty Professionals to Samreboi.

The Chairman of the FA Cup Committee (FACC), Kurt Okraku, announced that all the fixtures will be held between May 11-16, with each participating club receiving GH¢500 worth of airtime from the sponsors MTN.

He also disclosed that the FACC was in talks with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the National Sports Authority with the view to staging this year's MTN FA Cup final at the newly inaugurated Cape Coast Stadium.
