Kotoko open title defence at Aduana

Despite the apathy that has crept into the local league following the long delay, defending champions Kumasi Asante Kotoko,  will open their title defence on Sunday with a mouth-watering fixture against Aduana Stars away.

Perennial nemesis, Aduana Stars’ efficiency at Dormaa-Ahenkro has often left connoisseurs cautious in their predictions, especially so when Kotoko were defeated 2-0 last season after a series of league matches had left the two sides splitting points since 2012.

This season, however, Aduana Stars have declared Dormaa-Ahenkro a no-go area for all the clubs and believe Kumasi Asante Kotoko will be the first to incur their wrath.

But with the Porcupine Warriors eager to break that jinx, a huge responsibility appears to be on the shoulders of Coach Mas Ud Didi Dramani as he leads the likes of Richard Mpong, Jordan Opoku, Abeiku Ainooson and skipper Michael Akuffo to that difficult terrain.

Later tomorrow, Accra Hearts of Oak will open their campaign with West Africa Football Academy (WAFA) at the Kpando Park, following their home match ban, while Hasaacas host Liberty Professionals at the Sekondi Park.

At the Sunyani Coronation Park, it will be a regional derby between new entrants, B. A United and Bechem United, while Tarkwa-based Medeama trek to Tema to play Inter Allies.

Kpando Heart of Lions will have the pleasure of welcoming New Edubiase to the Kpando Park for a fierce battle, just as Wa All Stars host Bechem Chelsea in another entertaining contest.

Returnees Accra Great Olympics will savour their first premiership contest with a clash against AshantiGold at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium.
