Lamptey, Lartey win MTN golf

It was a clear show of class as popular lady golfer, Mona Myles Lamptey, finished three shots above her competitors to emerge champion of the MTN Invitational golf tournament last Saturday.

The veteran golfer, obviously used to the Celebrity Golf Course at Sakumono, exhibited a high sense of determination with her strokes on the course all the way to the greens, where she chipped in to the cup to complete with 37 points.

Her closest rivals, Catherine Fabbi followed with 34 points, with Esther Antwi, grabbing the third sport with a total score of 32.

Teye Lartey also proved he could be tough on the course as he recorded a net score of 37 to win the men’s Group A event. He shot a point more than Stephen O’Kennedy, who finished second, and Ekow Nyarko who finished third with 35 points.

In the men’s Group B event, Nigeria’s Oluwole Akinroye won with a total score 39, Chris Apau-Oppong followed with 38 points, while Peter Fiagbe came third with 37 points.

The ladies Group B competition, also saw Gladys Awuni wining with 38 points, followed by Mariatu Bah and Joyce Aronsen who socred 35 and 30 points respectively.

Other winners on the day were Kusi Boateng who won the longest drive, while Mariatu Bah grabbed the female category. Geoffrey Avornoche and Rahida Kalil won the Closest to the pin in the men and ladies category respectively. Dr Paul Owusu-Bah won the hole in one prize.

The General Manager of MTN Business, Samuel Addo, explained that their motive for organizing the quarterly golf event was to engage their corporate clients and understand their telecommunication needs.
