Skipper Eric Opoku — Leads Ashgold against Kotoko in Kumasi

Make or break for Kotoko in outstanding league clash

Kumasi Asante Kotoko make a frantic bid to placate their supporters front this afternoon. The supporters have been seething with anger since they stumbled in their maiden outing against WAFA at Sogakope in this year’s Premier League.

The Porcupine Warriors face another torrid moment against defending champions, Ashantigold, at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi in an outstanding engagement that both Coach David Duncan and the General Manager of the club, Opoku Nti, know very well that even a draw will add to their woes.

Already the atmosphere is charged, after an equally troubled outing last Sunday against Medeamma, who secured an unusual point from Kumasi, throwing a lot of their angry fans into the fray and promising fire and brimestone if Kotoko this time fail to secure the maximum points.

But against Ashgold who always hold their own in Kumasi, the task appears daunting, particularly when injury has taken their key striker Kwame Boateng, and Felix Annan, the most reliable among their goalkeepers.

Coach Duncan must be relieved now that striker Dauda Mohammed has recovered fully to lead the goal hunt against Ashgold this afternoon, but the Miners, with Tijani Joshua and goalkeeper Robert Dabuo, in their set-up, appear strong enough at the back to make things difficult for the Porcupine Warriors.
