Medeama crowned Ghana Premier League champions
Medeama SC were crowned champions of the Ghana Premier League for the second time after an emphatic 5-2 victory over Heart of Lions at the T&A Park in Tarkwa yesterday.
The much-anticipated title-clinching encounter experienced a delayed start due to heavy rainfall, but once play resumed, Medeama produced a ruthless performance to ensure their celebrations went ahead in style.
The hosts wasted little time in asserting their dominance as Kelvin Obeng broke the deadlock in the 18th minute, sending the home supporters into wild celebration.
Obeng continued his impressive display by adding a second goal before halftime to hand Medeama a comfortable advantage heading into the break.
Heart of Lions briefly threatened a comeback after reducing the deficit in the second half, but Medeama quickly regained control with their relentless attacking display.
Derrick Fordjour netted twice after the restart, while Prince Owusu added another late strike to complete the dominant performance for the Tarkwa-based side.
Heart of Lions managed to score twice, including a late penalty converted by Etse Dogli, but the outcome was never seriously in doubt as Medeama marched confidently toward the league title.
The victory sparked jubilant scenes at the T&A Park as Medeama celebrated another historic triumph in Ghanaian football.
