Medeama to worsen plight of New Edubiase

After defeating West Africa Football Academy (WAFA) 3-2 in a thriller last Wednesday, Medeama SC will once again wait patiently at the Tarkwa and Aboso (T&A) Park with the sole aim of adding New Edubiase United to their list of victims as the Confederation Cup campaigners aim to come back strongly as the curtain draws on the first round of the Premier League on Sunday.

Medeama, who currently lie 11th on the league log, will be looking forward to continue their good run of form under head coach Evans Addotey by beating their opponents to move back into the title hunt.

Medeama are expected to draw inspiration from their sterling performance in continental competition this year, while bottom-placed New Edubiase will attempt a giant-killing feat in a desperate bid to lift themselves from the relegation zone.

At the Dawu Park, Accra Hearts of Oak will have to put up a strong fight against Dreams FC as the Phobians aim to end the first round in style, with Coach Akonnor’s side aiming to stop the high-flying Hearts who boast a good away record.

Also at the Carl Reindorf Park at Dansoman, Liberty Professionals look favourites against bottom club Ebusua Dwarfs who are without a win away.

Third-placed Aduana Stars face a tough home clash against Bechem United in a regional derby at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park at Dormaa-Ahenkro.

In other matches, Kumasi Asante Kotoko will seek to bounce back from their defeat against Wa All Stars when they play host to sensational Techiman City, who are without an away win in the competition, at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Sekondi Hasaacas take on struggling Inter Allies at Essipon, Berekum Chelsea will host Wa All Stars at the Golden City Park, while defending champions Ashantigold will engage WAFA at the Len Clay Stadium at Obuasi.
