National Athletics championship final on Saturday
This year’s national championship reaches a climax on Saturday at the Tamale Sports Stadium as local athletes vie for slots for the All African Games (AAG).
The domestic track and field championship, which began in May, is being organised by the Ghana Athletics Association (GAA) to keep athletes in shape.

Sponsored by Interplast-Sea & Shore, earlier rounds of the competition were held in Sunyani, Accra and Akatsi to select the best for Saturday’s final.
Only the top eight in each event throughout the competition would participate in the finals.
Over 128 male and female athletes will battle for glory in straight finals in their respective events.
The National meet is expected to witness fierce rivalries and competition among best home-based athletes, including Africa javelin silver medalist, Mary Zuta Nartey, Africa 4x100m relay bronze medalist, Beatrice Gyaman, and Commonwealth and the likes of Shawkia Iddrisu, Sakat Lariba, Kwadwo Acheampong, who participated in the last Commonwealth Games, as well as youth olympic gold medalist, Martha Bissah.
Others are triple jumper, Martin Etsey, 3000m runner, Prosper Goku, Daniel Eshun, Awudu Bachela and Emmanuel Gyefa.
