National Golf Awards set for Dec 27

The Okyehene, Osagyefo Amotia Ofori Panyin, will be the special guest for the second edition of the Ghana Golf Awards  slated for December 27 in Accra.

At a press briefing yesterday at the Accra Sports Stadium, the communication director of the organisers, Primeval Media Ghana Limited, Jeffery Asare, confirmed that ardent golfer, Sir Sam Jonah, and the Minister of Youth and Sports, Mahama Ayariga, would also grace the occasion.

Twenty different awards categories are up for grabs. They include the male and female categories of the Amateur Golfer of the Year, Most Improved Golfer, Most Promising Golfer  Junior Golfer of the Year , Senior Golfer of the Year, Professional Golfer of the Year, Golf Personality of the Year and Golfer of the Year among others.

The vice president of the Ghana Golf Association (GGA), Mike Aggrey, said nominations for the awards were open for various golf clubs across the  country

The association, he said,  was still awaiting nominations from some of the clubs to determine the winners of the various awards.

"I want to assure fans that nominations were conducted through the various clubs across the country," he stressed.

This year’s awards will take place at the Events Haven at the Trade Fair Centre, La, Accra, and is being sponsored by uniBank, Coca-Cola, Guiness Ghana LTD, Cal Bank, Airtel, Special Ice and Azar Paint, among others.
