Nine stars shine as NASCO honours GPL Week 21 top performers
Nine players were rewarded for standout performances across the country as NASCO Man of the Match honours were handed out in Week 21 of the Ghana Premier League.
The matchweek opened on Friday in Kumasi, where Medeama SC’s impressive 17-match unbeaten run came to an abrupt end. Nations FC claimed a 2–1 victory, with their captain Razak Simpson delivering a decisive performance by scoring both goals. His leadership and finishing earned him the NASCO Man of the Match award.
Saturday’s fixtures produced more eye-catching individual displays. In Kpando, Heart of Lions recorded a commanding 3–1 win over Asante Kotoko, with Melvin Asenso’s influence in midfield standing out as he was adjudged the best player on the day. In Accra, Dreams FC and Vision FC shared a 2–2 draw, but Dreams striker John Antwi was recognised for his sharp attacking play and named Man of the Match.
Sunday’s action saw six more games and six additional award winners. At the University of Ghana Stadium, Hearts of Oak and Bechem United played out a goalless draw, with Ali Mohammed’s composure and consistency earning him the individual accolade. In Tamale, Karela United edged Hohoe United 1–0 at the Aliu Mahama Stadium, and Abdul Rahman Yahaya’s solid all-round display was rewarded with the Man of the Match prize.
In Dormaa, Aduana Stars and Samartex locked horns in a keenly contested encounter, and Seidu Soana’s performance for Aduana was enough to secure him the award. Basake Holy Stars also impressed at home with a 2–0 victory over Berekum Chelsea, as Issah Yakubu emerged as the standout performer. In Wenchi, Young Apostles cruised to a 3–0 win over Eleven Wonders, with Hussein Issah stealing the spotlight after scoring twice to claim the Man of the Match honour.
The round of fixtures concluded in Bibiani, where the defending champions edged Swedru All Blacks 1–0. Kelvin Oppong, who scored the decisive goal, capped his effort by being named the best player of the match.
Each of the nine Man of the Match winners received a NASCO humidifier and an electric iron in recognition of their performances, continuing the electronics company’s support for excellence in the Ghana Premier League.
