Sports Minister to launch new season of UG Corporate Football League
The Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Iddie Adams, is expected to officially launch the 2026 University of Ghana Corporate Football League at a press event scheduled for Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at the VIP Lounge of the University of Ghana Stadium.
The launch will bring together representatives of participating corporate institutions, invited stakeholders and members of the media to formally unveil plans for the new season, which is slated to run from February to June 2026. It will mark the official start of activities for what organisers describe as another landmark edition of the competition.
Organised by the University of Ghana Sports Directorate in partnership with RITE Sports Services, the Corporate Football League has, over the years, evolved into a key fixture on the local sporting calendar. At the launch, organisers are expected to outline the structure of the 2026 season, highlight improvements introduced for the new campaign and set expectations for participating teams.
Coming off a 2025 season characterised by keen competition and high levels of engagement, the organisers say the upcoming edition will place a stronger emphasis on professionalism and competitiveness. The league is designed to provide a platform where corporate institutions can engage in sport, promote wellness among staff and strengthen networking, while also delivering regular football action in a university setting.
Matches in the 2026 season will be played every Friday evening between 5pm and 10pm at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, ensuring a consistent run of fixtures for participants and spectators throughout the four-month period.
The new season is expected to kick off on Friday, February 13, 2026, with the press launch setting the tone for what organisers believe will be another vibrant celebration of corporate football on the University of Ghana campus.
