Nyantakyi must resign — Y.B. Amponsah
A former football star, Mr Yiadom Boakye Amponsah, has added his voice to the call for the resignation of the FA President, Kwesi Nyantakyi, following the Black Stars Brazil 2014 World Cup fiasco and Nyantakyi’s unique co-efficient formula for sharing state resources among FA officials.
Mr Amponsah, formerly of the defunct Nsawam GIHOC Stars, who made the call in an interview with Daily Graphic, explained that Mr Nyantakyi’s continued stay in office was likely to cause doom for Ghana’s football, hence the need for him to resign now.

“He has too much skeletons such that it will not be useful for him to hang around anymore. He should go and concentrate on his club and bring it up to the level that he wants, but with regard to the national development of the game, he should give it to someone else,” he fumed.
Mr Amponsah was of the view that “the lack of initiative on the part of Kwesi Nyantakyi for tapping and nurturing football talents at the grass roots since he assumed office over a decade ago; his complex co-efficient formula of expending state resources entrusted to his care, and the mess he created before and after the 2014 Brazil World Cup tournament should humble him enough to resign immediately.”
He noted that Ghana football at the international level would have made a greater impact if Nyantakyi had not been in the saddle, explaining that even at the 2006 and 2010 World Cups, the FA boss did not play any significant role because he neither selected any of the players nor spent his time, money or resources to develop the game in any way.
Commenting on his performance since he was entrusted with the development of Ghana football, Mr Amponsah, who was also a former management member of Anglogold Obuasi and is currently a labour consultant, noted that “in terms of developing football in Ghana, his [Nyantakyi’s] performance has been very abysmal.”
