According to a press release issued by the PFAG last Wednesday, the launch of the fund, christened  PFAG Insurance and Life After Football Fund,  will take place at 6.30p.m. on March 21 at the Alisa Hotel in Accra.

"On March 21, the PFAG will launch the much-awaited Life After Football Fund," the release signed by PFAG Communications Director, Thomas Boakye-Agyeman, stated.

"The insurance has been designed to cover players for accidental death, critical illness and general accident suffered on the field of play.

"As you probably know, this is the first of its kind in Ghana and it is designed to support professional footballers who might suffer from heart disease, stroke or other cardiovascular disease and other major sports injuries. To help these players - and to help protect the game we love, we all need to get involved," he said.

The PFAG is a union of football players which focuses on sustaining and protecting the interest of all professional footballers throughout their playing career and beyond.

The PFAG began operation in 2009 at its office located in the Accra Sports Stadium and was officially launched in May 2010.

It is affiliated to the International Federation for Professional Footballers (FIFPro), which acts as the voice of all professional footballers worldwide.

Notable personalities among its membership include former Black Stars players, Anthony Baffoe, Stephen Appiah, Abukari Damba, Laryea Kingston, Ablade Kumah, Richard Kingson and Augustine Arhinful.
