Promotional and management syndicate, PKO Boxing will be represented by three fighters when boxing takes centre stage at the Odwira festival in Akropong on Saturday evening.
Joseph “The Humble” Commodore and Hamza “Tank Hand” Muhammad battle Sani Yiddna Kugbile respectively in the professional programme, while teenage boxer Rahman Lokko takes on Benjamin Ankrah in a juvenile exhibition.
All three fighters and and their respective opponents made the required limits at the pre-fight weigh-in on Friday morning at the Attoh Quarshie Gym in James Town, Accra.
The boxing tournament is being staged in commemoration of the 200th anniversary of the annual festival of the Akwapem people in the Eastern Region. Under the theme, “Honouring Our Heritage, Securing Our Future” the combat.event is hosted by Safe-box Promotions & MYN Matchmaking & Sports Management at the Odwira Community Boxing Arena.
It features some of Ghana’s most promising boxers including a first fight of the year for former IBF Continental Africa champ Holy Dorgbetor, past national super lightweight titlist Samuel “No Chance” Quaye starts a new chapter under new management, topped with an appearance by son of Bukom Banku, Abu “Tilapia” Kamoko.
For PKO Boxing who also boasts championship pedigree in recently crowned World Boxing League (WBL) light heavyweight champ Prince Kamaldeen Mohammed, it is another opportunity for some of their talents to showcase their progress on a big stage.
Commodore, fresh from his impressive debut victory on the Homowo Fight Night hosted by PKO Boxing at Abelemkpe last month, a fifth-round TKO victory over Emmanuel Allotey – is scheduled to meet Sani Yidana Kugblie. Commodore weighed 139.1 pounds, while Kugbile made 140 pounds for their welterweight 6-rounder.
Muhammad, 23, faces John Oblitey Commey, also hoping and to build on his first professional win, which came on debut against Benya Bee at the Homowo Fight Night on August 22. He came in at 135.1 lbs, just slightly heavier than Commey who weighed 135 pounds.
For Rahman Lokko, whose father, Lawrence Carl Lokko is also Technical Director of TKO boxing, the bout against Ankrah presents an opportunity to bounce back after his 2-1 defeat to Prince Attoh, also last month in Abelemkpe.
With all roads leading to Akropong for the fight action set to electrify the 2026 Odwira Saturday night, three warriors will not be fighting for only honour, but also lifting the PKO Boxing flag higher.
