PM Sports Foundation celebrates triumph as beneficiaries win African ITF/CAT U-12 Tennis

Two young tennis stars from Ghana, Eric Torto and Jeff Frimpong, have emerged as champions of the Confederation of African Tennis (CAT) and International Tennis Federation (ITF) Under-12 Championship held in Gaborone, Botswana. 

Both players, who are products of the PM Sports Foundation, a non-governmental organization, clinched the top two spots in the competition, making their mark on the continental stage.

Torto and Frimpong's exceptional performances earned them the prestigious No.1 and No.2 rankings respectively, while a third standout player, Ethan Delali Dzidzornu from St. Francis, also delivered an impressive showing, securing his place alongside the duo to represent Africa in upcoming global competitions.

The triumph of these young athletes is a testament to the impact of PM Sports Foundation's programs, which have focused on nurturing talent through its "Tennis in Schools" and "Club Link" initiatives. Both Torto and Frimpong were discovered in 2018 as part of these social impact efforts aimed at providing opportunities for children to excel in sports.

Peter Mensah, CEO of PM Sports Foundation, expressed pride in the achievements of the young champions, emphasizing the long-term benefits of the foundation’s programs. 

"This is the result of our 'Tennis in Schools' and 'Club Link' programs, through which these two were identified. Since then, they’ve had access to numerous opportunities through tennis and have been part of Ghana's National Under-12 team," Mensah said.

He continued, "Our aim is not just to create champions, but to give every child the opportunity to showcase their God-given talents. These results highlight how our partnership with the Ghana Tennis Federation and our social impact programs are positively changing lives."
