Ref Lamptey on duty at Rio Games
Ghanaian referee, Joseph Lamptey has been appointed as the fourth referee for the Olympic Games clash between Sweden and Colombia at the Amazonia Arena Stadium in Rio de Janeiro this evening.
He will be supporting officials from Saudi Arabia with Fahad Al Mirdasi as centre referee assisted by Abdullah Alshalwai and Mohammed Al Bakry.
This will be the first time a Ghanaian referee will be officiating at the Olympics.
Lamptey, who earned his FIFA and Africa Elite badge in 2009, has been to various international tourneys organised by FIFA and the Confederation of African Football (CAF) with the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) and the World Youth Championship both held in 2015, being the most recent.
