Rip-off at Baba Yara ; Ashgold cry foul
A GH¢2,500 deduction for publicity from the gate proceeds of the Kumasi Asante Kotoko-Ashgold friendly at the Baba Yara Stadium has become a source of a raging confrontation between the miners and the National Sports Authority (NSA) with the latter threatening that they will not play any future friendly with the Porcupine Warriors at the venue.
In what appeared to be another case of a rip-off at the stadium, the function statement also revealed that another GH¢1,400 was used to pay for the services of an MC with over GH¢360 going for the operation of turnstiles when the facility was not in use at the time due to the low turn out.

In the end, both Kotoko and Ashgold had less than GH¢12,000 to share out of the GH¢19,525 grossed from the match.
The amount, according to the function statement released after the game, was used for publicity for the game, but Kudjoe Fianoo, CEO of Ashgold, insists no such publicity deal was agreed on before the match.
“We have demanded answers from the National Sports Authority in Kumasi, but they failed to convince us”, he added.
