In Pool A Niger, Burkina Faso and Togo will compete with the first two teams in each pool proceeding to the semifinals.

“Rugby is a relatively unknown sport in Ghana but all indications are that the sport will explode in popularity over the next few years because it offers players an ideal platform to build character due to the value system that underlies the sport,” Alhassan said.

The national team that will represent Ghana is made up of 12 players, namely: Dan Hoppe (Idas Sports RFC), Clement Dennis (Griffons RFC), Sani Alhassan (Cosmos Buffaloes RFC) (Captain), Alex Dorpenyo (Conquerors SC), Seidu Razak (Conquerors SC), Solomon Akumba (Cosmos Buffaloes RFC) , Michael Acquaye (Conquerors SC), Calestus Bosoka (Conquerors SC), Emmanuel Kalos (Conquerors SC), Joseph Mensah (Griffons RFC),  Erick Acquah (Griffons RFC) and Nasiru Aminu (Conquerors SC), with Mr Simba Mangena as head coach supported by Mr. Amuzuloh Salim
