Soccer for Dreamers donates kits and menstrual hygiene support to 10 Ghanaian clubs
Ten football clubs across the Greater Accra and Ashanti Regions have benefitted from the latest social intervention initiative by Soccer for Dreamers, a non-profit organisation dedicated to nurturing young talent.
The presentation, held in collaboration with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Foundation, took place at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The beneficiaries included Access Bank Division One side Great Ambition from Bubuashie, A5 Rennes from Tema and New Town Youth from the Greater Accra Region. In the Ashanti Region, Alhaji Babies, Kumasi Hope FC, Gucci FC and Corners received support. On the women’s side, Sisamba Ladies, GRA Ladies and Halifax Ladies, all Greater Accra Women’s League clubs, benefited from the intervention.
Each of the clubs received assorted football kits, while players from the three women’s teams were additionally given menstrual cups to promote menstrual hygiene.
President of Soccer for Dreamers, Mrs. Sylvia Akwaboah, reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to offering hope and resources to budding footballers. She coupled the presentation with a talk on menstrual health and encouraged the players to focus on personal development. “Do not spend all your free time aimlessly on social media. Use that opportunity to develop and improve your soft skills, which will be an advantage in your career,” she advised.
Director of the GFA Foundation, Malcolm Appeadu, praised the initiative for sustaining support and incorporating educative sessions that directly benefit players. He stressed that the GFA would continue to partner such projects as part of its mission to develop football at all levels.
Chairman of the Greater Accra Division Two League, George Aforklenyuie, urged the young players to uphold discipline, focus and determination, adding that such attributes, alongside talent, were essential to building successful careers.
Soccer for Dreamers was founded by three brothers—Baruch, Jed and Kayden Akwaboah—who play school football in the United States. Their initiative seeks to give back to Ghanaian grassroots football by combining sports development with social interventions.
