This has become public knowledge, but the technical director of the Ghana Football Association, Coach Oti Akenten, thinks otherwise.

Speaking to the Graphic Sports in a telephone interview, Coach Akenten said the so-called list of provisional squad making the rounds must be mere speculation as Coach Appiah had yet to present any list to the technical team.

“Even though I am not in Accra, such a list would not have escaped my attention,” he noted.

He said the coach was still abroad monitoring the players he wanted to pick for the 30-man provisional squad  which would be prunned down to the final 23.

A list making the rounds as provisional squad for the Black Stars alleged to have been presented by Coach Appiah named the goalkeepers as Adam Kwarasey, Daniel Agyei, Fatua Dauda and Stephen Adams.

For the defenders, Samuel Inkoom, Daniel Opare, Jonathan Mensah, Baba Rahman, Harrison Afful, Jeff Schulpp, John Boye, Isaac Vorsah, Jerry Akaminko and Rashid Sumaila were the names, while Sulley Muntari, Mubarak Wakaso, Mohammed Rabiu, Michael  Essien, Emmanuel Agyemang Badu, Anthony Annan, Yusif Rahman  Chibsah, Andre Ayew, Kwadwo Asamoah, Christian Astu, Emmanuel Frimpong and Albert Adoma were listed as the midfielders.

The forwards named included Jordan Ayew, Abdul Majeed Warris, Asamoah Gyan and Kevin-Prince Boateng.

Coach Akenten said the public should not bank their hopes on the list doing the rounds, hinting that Coach Appiah would come out with his substantive list in the middle of May.

He said as soon as the list comes out, the team would plunge into serious business by playing a number of friendly matches to enable the coach pick out his final squad for Brazil.
