Stephen Appiah backs Milo Championship

Bia Yawmetwa Primary School of the Western Region beat Central Region’s West Ridge School to emerge the Zone 3 champions, qualifying for the Milo Champions League.

Their goalkeeper, Ali Hamza, emerged the hero of the day as he saved three penalty kicks to win the grand final 3-1 in his team’s favour after both sides had drawn goalless at the end of the 90 minutes.


The competition, held at the Sunyani Coronation Park, attracted eight schools, namely, Akwidaa SDA, Dadieso Methodist, Besibisa (Akontombra) from the Western region, Adumfa Primary, AMAC, Badua , West Ridge all from the Central Region.


Former Black Stars skipper, Stephen Appiah, who was the guest of honour, told the players that they were a fortunate generation and applauded the efforts of Nestle which had created the platforms for them to showcase their talents.


“Today’s kids who want to play professional football are very fortunate because of the presence of companies such as Nestle Ghana
“We never had it like this during our days as kids. No one came to our aid, we had to play it hard at the colts level before making it.
“In our days, there were few television and radio stations to follow us like what we see today and so if you don’t do something exceptional, you won’t be noticed”. Appiah added.
