Wa's turn for Millennium Marathon

The Upper West regional capital, Wa, will this Saturday take its turn to host the regional version of the Millennium Marathon as the build up mounts for the September 6 event in Accra.

After the huge success of the first regional event in Tamale last month, organisers are hoping people in the region will also turn up in grand style as the event, endorsed by world marathon legend, Haile Gebrselassie, takes the form of a road show to campaign for healthy living.

According to organisers, the road show was also to disabuse people's minds about the fact that marathon is a specialised event for professionals, and thus, threw an open invitation to Keep Fit clubs, groups, families and individuals to register to participate in the 10.5km event.

Interested persons would not be required to pay registration fees and the first person to cross the finish line would get the privilege to participate in the national event in Accra on September 6.
