Strand leads Medeama to Sudan

Despite expressing deep interest in Kotoko’s coaching job left vacant due to the ongoing crisis in the club in an interview with the Graphic Sports last week, the young coach had no option than to spearhead Medeama to Africa since he is still under contract with the Tarkwa-based club till the end of the season.

Contrary to speculations that Kotoko were close to sealing a deal with him to replace estranged David Duncan, however, the president of Medeama, Moses Armah (Mospacka), confirmed to this paper last Tuesday that Kotoko were yet to officially approach the club on the matter.

“As far as we (Medeama) are concerned, Tom Strand is still our coach and he is still at Tarkwa as I speak,” Mospacka insisted.

According to him rumours were rife in the past week that some Kotoko officials travelled to Tarkwa to engage in talks with the coach but no formal approach was yet to be made.

He emphasised that Coach Strand was still the head coach of Medeama and would be in charge of the team when they play the Sudanese on Sunday.

He stressed that Strand would be part of the Medeama team expected to travel from Tarkwa to Accra this morning.

Coach Strand has openly expressed his displeasure at the happenings in Medeama in recent times to the extent of saying he would like to move on to another club, preferrably Kotoko, in case they approached him.

But once he is still under contract with Medeama, his destiny now lies in the hands of the club’s management.
