The team representing SWEBUS comprised Ishmael Arthur, Eric Ohemeng Danso, William Amponsah, Seidu Salifu, Matthew Abrah Appiah and Richard Kwaitoo who crossed the finish line of the 30-kilometre circuit in two hours, 11 mins and 42 seconds, after covering a distance of five kilometres each to win the boys’ race.

Teshie Presbyterian Senior High School finished second in a time of two hours 21 minutes and 17 seconds, while Awudome Senior High School claimed the third place in two hours, 25 minutes and 22 seconds.

KUGISS reigned supreme in the girls race, with Perpetual Kosine, Benedicta An-Mwaaba, Mao Mujara, Anita Bodey, Stephanie Larbie and Victoria Arhin coasting to victory in a time of three hours, six minutes and 19 seconds.

They finished ahead of Shama SHS (with three hours, six minutes and 19 seconds) and the Teshie PRESEC (three hours, 14 minutes and 21 seconds).

According to the Country Director of Blue Crest College, Mr Vivek K. Verma, the winners would be provided with scholarships to pursue tertiary education provided they meet the minimum requirements.

He said the undergraduate scholarship would cover tuition fees, as well educational materials such as books.

The race started at a brisk pace at the Baatsona Total Filling Station and recorded scenes of confusion, with most teams struggling to navigate the winding route.

As a result, several teams were unable to complete successful baton changes, which led to disqualifications.

However, the successful runners went through the Nungua Barrier to the Nungua-Lascala bus stop, Jokers, La General Hospital and Castle Junction before crossing the finish line behind the Accra Sports Stadium.

For their efforts, all the competitors received certificates of participation, as well as products and souvenirs from the sponsors — Blue Crest College and Cave and Gardens, distributors of Vita Top Chocolate drink.
