Taekwondo adopts reviewed constitution

The Ghana Taekwondo Federation (GTF) has adopted its reviewed constitution to guide its leadership to steer the affairs of the federation.

At the second Annual General Meeting held at the SSNIT House in Takoradi, the highest decision-making body of the federation, now known as the General Assembly, adopted the reviewed document.

Present at the meeting were eight regional taekwondo associations, namely the Ashanti, Brong Ahafo, Greater Accra, Northern, Upper East, Upper West, Volta and Western regional associations.

The review of the GTF constitution was initiated by the same body following some inadequacies and limitations in the old constitution which was adopted in 2010.

The current constitution has incorporated some binding provisions of the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) and is more responsive to the L.I. 1988 Sports Regulations, 2011.

The reviewed constitution will be submitted to the African Taekwondo Union (ATU) for assessment and approval as a result of the union’s position on the old constitution which the ATU expressed in a letter to the GTF.

The president of the GTF, Frederick Lartey Otu, together with other members of his executive board, outlined new developments for the discipline, as well as activities for taekwondo for next year.

Mr Otu, who chaired the meeting, explained the new WTF Global Membership System  which would be used to manage databases of all registered regional associations, clubs, locally-licensed coaches, referees and practitioners of each member national association for global licensing and event registration.
