Tagoe promises knockout; In ‘Who Rules the Ring’

Former IBF Intercontinental Super Featherweight champion, Emmanuel 'Game Boy' Tagoe has promised to knockout Tanzanian brawler, Sadiki Momba, on December 26 when he makes a much anticipated return to the ring at the RLG-Hathiramani Sports Hall of the Accra Sports Stadium.

The soft-spoken Tagoe, whose last fight was a victory against American Gerardo Robles in August last year, promised at a media briefing yesterday that his next fight would not travel the full distance.

Yesterday’s media briefing by fight organisers and promoters, Baby Jet Promotions, was also used to announce the supporting bouts for the Boxing Day bill, dubbed “Who Rules The Ring?”.

Tagoe and Sadiki will fight for the WBA Inter-Continental title.

“I want Ghanaians to arrive at the venue early because I will stop Sadiki. There will be wonders on Boxing Day because Asamoah Gyan will be in my corner giving me pointers, boasted Tagoe whose ring record stands at 22 wins (with nine knockouts) and one loss (22-1, 9 KOs).

“I don’t really want to talk much about my opponent because honestly, I have seen little of him in terms of his videos. All I need to do is follow the instructions of my trainer, Emmanuel Teiko Tagoe, and with my ring-craft I will pummel him [Sadiki] into submission,” said the 27-year-old boxer who is managed and promoted by Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan's Baby Jet Promotions.

In the undercards, Michael Ansah will battle Ishmael Aryee in an eliminator for the National Super Featherweight tile, Michael Pappoe locks horns with Abraham Osei Bonsu for the National Super Featherweight crown, Prosper Ankrah tussles with Kenyan, Nick Otieno in a Commonwealth Boxing Council (CBC) Bantamweight final eliminator, Raymond Commey clashes with Tanzanian, Fadhill Majiha in a CBC Super-Bantamweight eliminator while Nigerian, Felix Williams engages Razak Nettey in a Featherweight contest.
