Key contributions from James Amotoe, the Most Valuable Player of the Greater Accra Basketball League, and his Spintex Knights teammates including Treasure Botchway played a pivotal role in Ghana's successful run to the final.
In the initial contest, Ghana faced a tough challenge against Togo, falling behind 0-8. However, they mounted a comeback, surprising spectators by seizing control in the dying moments of the first quarter and taking the lead at 20-14.
Amotoe's significant influence became evident as Coach Sackey made strategic adjustments, enabling Ghana to turn the tide. His adept passing and precision in scoring set up his teammates for easy baskets, ultimately securing a 43-32 victory.
Liberia secured their spot in the final by staging a remarkable comeback to upset the heavily favored Nigeria with a final score of 24-19. In the third-place playoff, Togo narrowly edged out Nigeria with a score of 34-33.
Looking ahead, Team Ghana is set to face the winner of the clash between the USA and France on Sunday at the Bukom Boxing Arena in what promises to be an exciting culmination to the Africa Basketball Festival.
