Tennis: Adjani begins title defence:At Accra Seniors Open
Doe Adjani will today begin his title defence in men’s 40-49 singles of the Accra Seniors Open Championship when he engages Abeiku Bentsi on the clay courts of the Accra Lawn Tennis Court (ALTC).
The 13th edition of the championship will also witness exciting matches involving Nana Dadson against Kofi Boakye, Patrick Bantah versus Joshua Yamoah and George Hackson against Kofi Boakye in the men’s singles today.
In the men’s 50-59 singles, Juegen Kurz will play Edmund Nii Botswe, Kobby Brew versus Michael Sarfo, Sam Dominic will lock horns with Panichi Massimiliano, while Nana Yaw Ampaw, Nsiah Akuetteh, Joe Padimo and Richard Okoe Abbey will play in the men’s 60-69 singles.
According to the event co-ordinator, Peter Annan, the draws for the other categories of the Japan Motors-sponsored championship will be conducted today after the day’s matches.
The other competitions include men’s 30-39 singles, ladies’ (30+ years) doubles, men’s doubles for 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 and above, mixed doubles for 30 years and above.
The side attraction event which will see the professionals such as All Africa Games gold medalists, George Darko and Wisdom Na Adjrago engage each other this afternoon in the men’s division.
