Top players gear up for ‘Who Born Dog’ Draught Championship in December showdown

Eight of Ghana’s finest draught players will face off in a high-stakes championship dubbed “Who Born Dog – The Supremo” this December in what is being billed as the ultimate test of strategy, speed and mental fortitude.

The tournament, scheduled to take place at the BCDC arena from December 26 to 28, 2025, will feature a round-robin “all-play-all” format among top-tier players, including Addae, Abu National, Tei, Ardey, Kuma, Steven, Otega and Nii Ayi.

Described by organisers as “the game of intelligence, wits and agility,” the three-day contest will push players to their limits with a strict 45-second rule for each move, and an intense “fire-for-fire” competition style.

Day One of the championship will see players engage in three separate matches, followed by two games each on Days Two and Three.

Cash prizes totalling GH¢15,000 are up for grabs, with the winner walking away with GH¢5,000. The second and third place finishers will receive GH¢3,000 and GH¢2,000 respectively, while fourth place takes home GH¢1,000. Each remaining contestant will earn a consolation prize of GH¢400.

Tournament organisers describe the event as a “ground-breaking, hard, long slog” and promise a spectacular close to the draught calendar, featuring some of the most celebrated names in the local game.

With the stakes high and egos on the line, the Who Born Dog tournament is expected to draw draught enthusiasts from across the country, eager to witness what organisers have dubbed “no baga waya, no bone to bone” – a fierce, no-holds-barred encounter.

As the popular Ga phrase “Ke Osumoo Ene Meni Obaa Summo” suggests, there will be no backing down.
