We’ll make world champions for Ghana-Decland
Veteran boxing promoter, Francis Decland, says his outift,Obric Sala Boxing Promotions together with Ambition Boxing Promotions, is on the threshold of redefining the sport to produce a world champion for the nation.
“We are going to organise a lot of promotions both local and international in the country, including a Commonwealth title bout”, he told the Graphic Sports in an interview.
According to him, the sport will witness more action in terms of engaging local boxers in a variety of competitions while grooming and preparing amateur talents for the future.
Backing the resolve of Decland, Alhaji Tofiq of Ambition Boxing Promotions, called on the state to restructure the current state of amateur boxing and chart a new path for the sport.
“We need to get a permanent gym for the sport to nurture more talents for the benefit of the country”, he contended.
The two promoters and managers are set to organiser the first major boxing extravaganza for the year on February 22, which is to bring into action 10 strong fighters for a showdown.
On the packed bill dubbed “Discovery Karakata”, Isaac Aryee, alias “My Time”, from Black Panther gym, will slug it out with Justice Addy, aka “Quick Action”, from the Bronx gym in a national featherweight title bout at the Arts Centre in Accra.
