Samsung unveils One UI 8 with smarter AI, enhanced security, and seamless Galaxy integration

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. has announced the rollout of One UI 8, the next evolution of its Galaxy software experience, featuring powerful multimodal AI capabilities, enhanced device security, and a redesigned interface optimised across smartphones and foldables.

The update, which debuts on the Galaxy S25 series, will also be extended to the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold6, Galaxy Z Flip6, Galaxy S24 FE, and other eligible Galaxy models later this year.

According to Samsung, One UI 8 represents a significant leap towards “AI democratization,” empowering users with personalised, intelligent, and secure experiences that adapt seamlessly to their daily routines.

“One UI 8 recognises the user’s context, offering personalised, proactive suggestions that support their unique daily routines,” the company stated. “And as Galaxy AI becomes more intelligent, so does its commitment to protecting private data. One UI 8 combines advanced personalization tools with top-tier security features, anticipating user needs while keeping information safe.”

Among the new features is the Now Bar, which displays real-time app activity and media progress on the Galaxy Z Flip’s FlexWindow, along with deeper integration with third-party apps. The Now Brief tool delivers tailored updates on traffic, reminders, and health insights, while Samsung Moments encourages reflection on daily routines.

On security, Samsung introduced Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP) — a new architecture that creates encrypted, app-specific storage environments to protect sensitive data. It is supported by Knox Matrix, which automatically signs users out of their Samsung accounts if a device is flagged for serious risks, sending alerts to connected devices.

Additionally, Upgraded Secure Wi-Fi now features post-quantum cryptography (PQC) to strengthen network protection and ensure privacy even on public networks.

One UI 8’s AI advancements also extend to intelligent multimodality, combining visual, auditory, and contextual intelligence for smoother, more intuitive interactions. Tools such as Gemini Live allow users to engage naturally with on-screen content in real-time, while Circle to Search with Google provides instant translations and in-game assistance.

The update also delivers a user experience optimised for multiple form factors, enhancing productivity across smartphones, tablets, and foldables. Features such as AI Results View, Multi Window, and Galaxy AI Optimized for Large Screens allow users to drag and drop AI-generated images and text directly into their workflow.

Creative users benefit from tools like Drawing Assist and Writing Assist, while Audio Eraser removes unwanted background noise with one tap. A redesigned adaptive clock and FlexWindow customisation options enable deeper personalisation through AI-curated wallpapers and emojis.

Samsung has also introduced Portrait Studio, an AI-powered tool that creates artistic pet portraits, and Call Captions, which converts voice into text during calls. Interpreter and keyboard translation tools further support seamless cross-language communication.

With One UI 8, Samsung continues to expand its vision of intelligent technology that adapts to the user while maintaining industry-leading security and privacy standards.
