Afro-Arab CEO wins 40 under 40 award

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Afro-Arab Group of Companies, Alhaji Abdul Salamu Amadou has been honoured with the 40 under 40 award as the Best Emerging Micro-Finance Company in Ghana.

The award was bestowed on him over the weekend in Accra at the 40 under 40 Awards ceremony.

The 40 under 40 Award is to identify, honour and celebrate a cross-section of Ghana’s most influential and accomplished young business leaders under the age forty from a wide range of industries, who are committed to business growth, professional excellence and community service and have risen up the ranks of their companies or industries at a relatively young age as result of this.

The citation that accompanied the award lauded Alhaji Salamu for his commitment to business growth, professional excellence and ability to have risen up the ranks in the integrated banking and financing industry at a relatively young age.

For the past decade, Alhaji Abdul Salam has taken up the ambiguous journey of establishing Afro Arab Group of Companies which has seven subsidiaries operating in different sectors of the economy.

Born and bred in Nima, he has grown a microfinance business that has supported over 500 – 1000 small and medium scale business within five (5) years within the Nima/Maamobi and Newtown. He also supports community development through the CSR department of his Company and his initiatives: the Yaa Saalam Opportunity Center and Hope for the Street Kids.

Following his win, Alhaji Salamu took to Facebook to express gratitude to dedicated the award to all the Ghanaian youth, especially the "Zongo Ghetto Youth".

He posted: "Zongo has won, Tonight I feel so happy and proud because I am from Zongo the love is deep , I would like to take this Opportunity to thank Almighty Allah for my Life, Thank my family and friends and especially one to my spiritual leader my grandfather my everything The National Chief Imam in the person of Sheik Osman Nuhu Sharubutu for always putting in prayers, To my team at the opportunity centre Abdul Salam Muhammed Daru, Abdul Amin Hosni Mubarack, Samed and Sakibu this victory is all yours.

"Finally, I am dedicating this award to all the youth in Ghana and a special, special one to all the Zongo and Ghetto Youths".

The Afro-Arab Group of Companies was established in 2010 with its headquarters at Accra New Town.

Currently, the group has nine subsidiaries operating in different part of Ghana. These subsidiaries include; Afro-Arab Micro Finance Co. Ltd, Afro-Arab Travel & Tour, Afro-Arab Properties Ltd, Afro-Arab Co. Ltd, A & A Sports Consult, Afro-Arab Foundation, Afro-Arab Mining Co. Ltd., Afro-Arab Telecommunication Co. Ltd and Afro-Arab Mineral Water Co. Ltd.

Afro-Arab Company Limited was the first subsidiary to be registered. It was registered as a limited liability company incorporated under the companies’ code, 1963 act 179 on 26th January, 2007.
