The policy's primary objective is to ensure equal pay for equal work, regardless of gender, while also striving to create equal opportunities for individuals, irrespective of their gender.

This initiative aligns with the International "Orange World" campaign, spanning 16 days from November 25 to December 10, dedicated to ending violence against women. AGA's policy reflects a commitment to preventing and eliminating violence against women and children.

Mavis Nana Yaa Kyei, the Social Development and Gender Superintendent of AngloGold Ashanti, emphasized the company's stance against any form of discrimination towards the "weaker sex" and called for urgent action to eradicate it.

"The company has implemented comprehensive measures to ensure the well-being and protection of its workforce. Creating equal opportunities for all will enhance and bolster the confidence levels of women," stated Madam Kyei.

AGA has put in place robust policies and procedures to prevent workplace harassment and violence. Madam Kyei highlighted their zero-tolerance policy against gender-based violence, ensuring that all employees are aware of their rights and responsibilities.

She reiterated the firm's commitment to fostering a safe environment for its employees and fulfilling its duties to the communities where the mine operates. AGA's community investment programs focus on empowering women and girls by promoting equal access to education, mentorship programs, skills development, and entrepreneurship.

According to Mr. Samuel Asante Yeboah, the Obuasi Director of CHRAJ, violence against women and girls is preventable and should be stopped. He urged the public to promote gender balance for a healthier society and called on gender advocacy groups to persist in their efforts until true equity is achieved.
