Buipewura hails BOSTenergies MD as ‘warrior of development’

The Paramount Chief of the Buipe Traditional Area, Buipewura Jinapor II, has praised the Managing Director of BOSTenergies, Afetsi Awoonor, for what he described as a transformative approach to development in the area.

During a courtesy call on the company’s management at its head office in Accra on Monday, April 27, 2026, the traditional ruler commended the firm’s growing footprint in Buipe, highlighting its impact on livelihoods and community development.

“In our tradition, we celebrate warriors. But the warriors of today do not carry spears. They carry development. You, Mr. Awoonor, are a warrior of development, not war. The people of Buipe see what you are doing, and we are grateful,” the Buipewura said.

He noted that the Buipe Depot had evolved beyond its core function as a petroleum facility, becoming a critical economic hub that supports employment and local enterprise. He also cited the company’s corporate social responsibility initiatives, including youth employment, scholarships and the construction of community infrastructure, as evidence of its commitment to inclusive growth.

Responding, Mr Awoonor expressed appreciation for the recognition and reaffirmed the company’s long-term commitment to the Buipe enclave, describing it as central to Ghana’s fuel security architecture.

He announced plans for two key projects aimed at deepening the company’s socio-economic impact. These include the establishment of a technical training centre in Savelugu to equip young people from Buipe, other parts of Ghana and neighbouring countries with skills in logistics and petroleum operations.

In addition, he disclosed that work would commence this year on a modern truck park at the Buipe Depot to improve safety, ease congestion and stimulate economic activity in the area.

Mr Awoonor assured the traditional leadership that further development initiatives were being considered and pledged continued collaboration with the Buipe Traditional Council to ensure that the company’s operations align with the needs of the community.

The Buipewura, in turn, pledged the support of the Traditional Council, emphasising the importance of partnership in sustaining development gains. “Where there is peace and development, there will always be partnership,” he said.

The visit concluded with an exchange of gifts and a reaffirmation of cooperation between the company and the traditional authorities.
