FirstBank deepens SME banking with new Dzorwulu and North Industrial Area branches

FirstBank Ghana has expanded its physical presence in Accra with the opening of two new branches at Dzorwulu and the North Industrial Area, a move aimed at strengthening retail and SME banking support in some of the capital’s busiest commercial corridors.

The Dzorwulu branch is located near the Allied Oil Fuel Filling Station along the Olusegun Obasanjo Highway, while the North Industrial Area outlet sits adjacent to the Star Oil Filling Station on Dadeban Road. The Bank said the locations were carefully selected to improve access to banking services for businesses and residents operating within high-activity zones.

The two branches are expected to cater largely to small and medium-scale enterprises, retailers, corporate entities and individual customers in the surrounding areas, offering a full range of retail and business banking solutions.

Speaking to the media, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of FirstBank Ghana, Victor Yaw Asante, said the expansion formed part of a deliberate strategy to support enterprise development and enhance customer engagement.

“The opening of our Dzorwulu and North Industrial Area branches reflect FirstBank’s commitment to deepening financial inclusion and supporting businesses that drive local economic growth. These communities host a vibrant mix of businesses, SMEs and retailers, and we are here to partner them with tailored financial solutions that enable sustainability and long-term success,” he said.

Mr Asante noted that the new outlets also align with the Bank’s broader goal of delivering accessible and customer-focused banking services while upholding high professional standards.

“At FirstBank, we remain committed to delivering the ultimate gold standard of value and excellence. These new branches bring us even closer to our customers, allowing us to better understand their needs and support their financial aspirations,” he added.

The Dzorwulu and North Industrial Area branches are fully operational and equipped to provide services including account opening, loans and advances, digital banking solutions, remittance services, and collections for utilities, school fees and government-related payments.

The Deputy Managing Director of FirstBank Ghana, Osahon Ogieva, said the new branches were designed with a strong emphasis on convenience and customer experience.

“These branches have been designed with the customer in mind. From SMEs looking for working capital to retailers and individuals seeking efficient everyday banking, our teams are ready to deliver seamless, personalized service supported by robust digital platforms,” he said.

Mr Ogieva stressed that while digital banking remains central to the Bank’s strategy, physical branches continue to play a critical role in relationship-building, particularly for SMEs.

“While digital banking remains a key pillar of our strategy, we recognise the importance of physical branches in building trust, offering advisory support, and strengthening relationships especially for SMEs and retailers who require hands-on engagement,” he added.

FirstBank Ghana said the latest expansion reinforces its long-standing commitment to community development, financial empowerment and economic transformation, as it continues to position itself as a trusted banking partner to businesses and individuals across the country.
