Med-View Airline begins regional operations
A Nigeria-based airline, which is expected to make travelling between Lagos and Accra easy and offer travellers a choice of safety and comfort, has been inaugurated at a ceremony at the Nigerian High Commission in Accra.
Med-View Airline will serve as a link between Nigerians in Accra and Ghanaians in Lagos, including business and government officials. The airline started charter operations in 2007 with two aircraft and now has four.
It will take delivery of two more aircraft very soon to bring its total fleet to six.
Maiden Voyage
Med-View which has been involved in domestic operations in Nigeria had its maiden voyage last Monday to Accra to officially mark the beginning of its regional operations.
The Managing Director of the airline, Alhaji Muneer A. A. Bankole, told the gathering of business executives, officials of Med-View, other officials from the airline-related industry and the media that Med-View was fully involved in Hajj operations when it started, but had to venture into the domestic arena.
He said Med-View was determined to close the gaps within the airline business in the West-African sub-region.
He said the airline would start flying to Dubai next month, and expressed the hope that people who travelled to Lagos for business activities would choose Med-View.
Punctual and Flawless
Addressing the inauguration, the Nigeria High Commissioner in Accra, Mr Ademola Oluseyi Onafowokan, said he had the opportunity of being on Med-View’s maiden flight to Accra and commended the airline for safe take-off and landing.
He assured the management of the airline of the support of the commission in ensuring that they had a smooth business venture in Ghana.
Mr Onafowokan said the commission was committed to supporting Nigerian companies to prosper in any business venture they chose to establish.
He said the airline’s operations to Accra was also timely as it would offer Nigerians in Ghana as well as passengers that flew to Nigeria an alternative choice of flight.
In his remarks, the Executive Director of Zenith Bank, Mr Henry Oroh, said the bank was proud to have the airline operating in Ghana and assured management of Med-View of its continuous support to help the airline succeed in Ghana.
“We are glad to have you in Ghana, and in flying within the sub region, Med-View shall be our airline of choice, he assured.
For his part, the Head of Regional Corporate/ Regional Account Manager of Ecobank, Mr Johnson Oware, said Med-View had distinctly showed how well they could operate within African circles and described it as a sign of good things that the airline would do in the future.
Mr Oware wished the management of the airline a successful take off in Ghana and the various countries that they would be doing business in, and assured them of their support, saying, “Whatever it will take financially to support the airline, you will see the partners in Ecobank”.
On security, the Managing Director of Aviation Profile and Security Services (APSS) Limited, Mr Bedford Oto, assured the airline of maximum security and safety which would begin from the aircraft itself, through to safe landing.
