The ultimate winner, Mr Andrew Danyo, a Teaching Assistant at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), took home GH¢ 30,000, while three artistes who included Bisa Kdei, Korede Bello and Kwabena Kwabena received GH¢ 5,000, each.

The promotion, which was organised by MTN in partnership with Huawei Technologies Ghana, ran from November 2015, until February this year. It also rewarded two other winners with GH¢ 2,000, each in the week 12 and week 13 draw of the promotion.

The acting Head of Product and Services for MTN, Mr Bless Sekpenu Agbojo, said thousands of loyal MTN customers had been rewarded with GH¢ 140,000, since the promotion was initiated in November last year.

“The objective of the promotion was two-pronged, to reward on a weekly and monthly basis our valued customers who downloaded more ‘caller tunez’ of their choice and also reward the artiste whose song was the most downloaded during the promotion period,” he said.

He added that MTN Ghana had been able to increase its subscriber base of caller tunez in 2012 by 52 per cent on average in 2015 and about 471,000 sounds were downloaded by customers, while 1.5 million new subscriptions were recorded from November last year to January this year.

“Caller Ringback Tones (CRBT) are the selected songs callers on the other side listen to instead of the beep or ‘ring-ring’. Since the promotion started, MTN has rewarded two monthly and 13 weekly winners, with each customer receiving GH¢ 10,000 and GH¢ 2,000 respectively,” he noted.

According to him, MTN remained committed to exploring innovative avenues to brighten the lives of its customers and in this instance, musicians who wanted to sell their music using technology.
