Oro Oil Ghana wins two awards at 2025 Ghana Timber and Sustainable Forestry awards
Oro Oil Ghana Limited has emerged as one of the top winners at the 2025 Ghana Timber and Sustainable Forestry Awards, receiving two prestigious honours for its contributions to sustainable agriculture.
The company was named Best Sustainable Palm Oil Producer of the Year, while its Chief Executive Officer, Maxwell Commey, received the award for Sustainable Leadership in Agro-Industrial Development.
The awards, held at the Marriott Hotel in Accra, recognised individuals and organisations for outstanding performance in the timber and sustainable forestry sectors. Oro Oil Ghana was commended for its efforts in promoting sustainable palm oil production and for its rapid growth in Ghana’s agricultural industry.
In a brief remark, Mr Commey expressed appreciation to the company’s staff, clients, and partners.
“I am super excited for this double win at this highest magnitude. We at Oro Oil Ghana Limited are committed to giving customers the best of experience in palm oil production and every aspect of our operations. This is a big win for us all,” he said.
Oro Oil Ghana, which operates in the Eastern Region, recently signed a 10-year partnership with Nigerian investors to cultivate over 10,000 hectares of oil palm. The agreement is expected to create jobs and expand access to markets through the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
The company, under the leadership of Mr Commey, has become one of the leading exporters of crude palm oil in Ghana. It is known for its customer-focused approach and commitment to sustainable practices.
The ceremony was attended by government officials, including Deputy Minister of Agriculture, John Dumelo, members of the diplomatic corps, and traditional rulers.
Mr Commey, who has over 25 years of industry experience across Europe and Africa, serves on the Board of the Tree Crop Development Authority and is a National Executive Member of the Oil Palm Development Association of Ghana (OPDAG).
