Prudential Bank opens new branch at East Legon

The Deputy Managing Director of Prudential Bank Limited (PBL), Mrs Mary Brown, has said that in spite of the general financial and economic challenges facing the country, it is still very important for  Ghanaians to continue saving in the banks.

Saving in the banks, she said, was essential because “a nation with a good savings culture develops the banking sector, which is at the centre of financial intermediation”.

“It is, therefore, important for the people to be frugal,” she added.

Mrs Brown gave the advice at the opening of a new PBL branch at Bawaleshie at East Legon in Accra.

“Deposits are saved with us and we lend them out, making sure that money moves round, and this helps develop businesses and projects,” she added.

She, however, advised that one should consider the actual benefits one stood to gain from financial institutions before taking the decision to do business with them.

“We all know that we are going through a difficult period as a nation but this is the time to ensure that you have a trusted and dependable bank as a partner to support you as an individual, sole proprietor or corporate entity in order to achieve your business and economic goals,” she stated.

She said customers should benefit from values that advance their personal and corporate well-being, adding that Prudential Bank ensured that clients had that experience.

To offer its full support to the national efforts being made to resuscitate the economy, Mrs Brown said the PBL had directed “special focus” on micro, small and medium-scale enterprises that were engaged in various sectors of the economy, such as manufacturing, trading, handicraft, furniture production and agribusiness.

The deputy managing director said there was also the need to concentrate on imports and exports, consumer loans, project financing, general commercial activities, fuel and oil importation and distribution, as well as construction.

The bank announced that it would soon introduce Visa card services and also continue with its expansion drive to bring its products and services to the doorstep of its customers.

The opening of the Bawaleshie branch brings the number of PBL branches and agencies across the country to 34. The branches are in Accra, Tema, Kumasi, Takoradi, Cape Coast, Techiman and Tamale.
