Trade Minister commissions $3.5m fertiliser plant

The Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, has inaugurated a $3.5 million fertiliser manufacturing plant established by Invess Agriculture Ltd at Shai Hills in the Shai Osudoku District of the Greater Accra Region.

Developed in partnership with Nitron Group and managed by AAA Infrastructure Ghana Ltd, the plant is expected to produce 385,000 metric tonnes of granular fertiliser annually, including 20 formulations approved by COCOBOD.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Mrs Ofosu-Adjare praised Invess Agriculture Ltd for what she described as “a decisive step toward sustainable agribusiness growth, job creation, and strengthening Ghana’s position in regional trade.” She expressed confidence that the facility’s production capacity would reduce reliance on imports and empower farmers to increase yields.

Following the inauguration, the minister and her delegation toured the facility to observe its advanced blending and quality control systems.

The Chief Executive Officer of AAA Infrastructure, Patrick Ohene-Djan, highlighted the project’s alignment with the government’s industrialisation agenda and the 24-hour economy vision.

“Each shift undertaken, each unit produced, and every pound of fertiliser blended at our facility directly impacts families throughout Ghana, reinforcing the agricultural sector that underpins our nation’s future,” he stated.

Invess Agriculture has also revealed plans to establish a five-million-litre liquid fertiliser plant to expand into the ECOWAS market, positioning Ghana as a key hub for fertiliser production in West Africa.
