In an enthralling encounter staged today at the GNAT Hall in Accra in the presence of students of the three schools, sponsors and other dignitaries the Legon based business institution put their feet on the pedal and never took their feet off.

Taking the first round which is the theory section with a score of 13 against  KNUST's 7 and UEW's 5, the Peter Emeka Ike led quartet which included Edwin Entsiey, Jonathan Nii Nai  Sowah and Prince Ascod Bordoh stayed composed under enormous pressure from their challengers to pull away in the third and fourth rounds to win the sixth edition of the competition.

Not even the seeming huge upset from KNUST in the fifth round which is the riddles where they dominated could stop UGBS from winning their first trophy.

For their reward each student of UGBS received an insurance cover of GHC20,000,HP laptops, souvenirs from sponsors, a gold  medal and a giant trophy.

Other rewards

UGBS also went home with a trophy from being the South East Zonal champions, while KNUST took a trophy for being middle zone champions with UEW going home with a trophy for being the South West Zone champions.

Other consolation prizes included a GHC 1000, 1500 and 2500 fuel coupons to UEW, KNUST and UGBS respectively were given by one of the  sponsors Goil Ghana.

Contest

As supporters of the three schools cheer the contestants on emotions ran high in a charged atmosphere as favourites UEW wobbled in the first two rounds.

Second favourites KNUST also failed to shine in the initial rounds as UGBS seized the initiative.

There was no turning back from the lads from Legon as they steady their business ship to Victory.

However it was not without challenges and a staunch competition from rivals UEW and KNUST.

Moreso in the fourth and five rounds of the competition when KNUST finally woke up from their slumber.

But it was too little too late when the star of the show and most outstanding student of this year's contest Peter Emeka Ike answered the  sixth riddle in the eight riddle questions of the fifth round to settle matters between the three.

Jubilant supporters of UGBS  shouted in esctacy at the end of the final riddle even before the quizmaster could declare the scores.

Solving challenges

Speaking under this year's team ''Promoting a holistic business mindset for sustainable entrepreneurship and financial independence" the Managing Director of the Graphic Communications Group Limited, Ato Afful said the quiz is to build the potential of contestants and business students in the country to solve  pressing challenges using innovation and becoming good entrepreneurs and creators.

He charged the students to use the opportunity to   form partnerships which will engender the creation of business ideas for the benefit of the society.

Mr Afful expressed gratitude to the quizmaster Alhassan Trawule and the technical team for marshalling this competition for the entire four months.

He also thanked sponsors for their support and appealed to them to continue their support.
