Oda MP organises free eye screening for constituents

The two-day exercise was in collaboration with the Columbia Union Conference, USA and the Community Hospital at Oda.

It took place simultaneously in six communities in the Oda Constituency, namely Oda New Town, Oda Old Town, Oda Nkwanta, Gyadam, Akyem Aboabo and Essam.

The Columbia Union Conference provided 10 eye specialists for the programme, while the Oda Community Hospital supplemented with 15 health professionals.

Cases

The health personnel treated minor eye diseases, provided lenses where necessary and referred the serious diseases to the Valley View University in Accra, where patients would undergo surgery.

More than 1,000 eye patients benefited from the programme.

Mr Acquah said it was part of his social responsibility to cater for the health needs of his constituents.

He advised the beneficiaries to apply the medication according to specification and also wear the lenses to improve their sight.

The MP, however, advised the people in the constituency with eye problems to seek medical attention at all times, but not to apply local concoctions or herbs on their eyes, as that could permanently damage the eyes.
