Colter Harper to play with his friends
The guitar has had a central role in jazz for many decades and a bold exponent of the instrument, Colter Harper from the United States, will play with support from some of his Ghanaian friends on Saturday, February 7, at the +233 Jazz Bar and Grill in Accra.
Harper, who is currently a visiting lecturer in music at the University of Ghana, Legon, has toured extensively in the United States and elsewhere as a guitarist, percussionist and vocalist.
Having lived in Ghana for a while, he has definitely imbibed new sensibilities and jazz fans would be keen to hear how those new feelings reflect in his playing.
Acclaimed Ghanaian pianist, Victor Dey, is one of the musicians who will play with Harper at the February 7 concert which takes off at 9.00pm. Among the repertoire for the night will be compositions from Harper’s albums, Once Upon a Mind (2007) and Fool's Resolution (2012).
