Zylofon Music never died - Skinny Willis

When all its big artistes and most of its officials left and it also went missing from the entertainment radar more than a year ago, many were those who thought Zylofon Music had gone burst like its mother company, defunct gold business, Menzgold.

The label however sprang a surprise last Friday, June 12, 2020 when it popped up from its hiatus to announce the signing on and uveiling of a new artiste, Afropop musician, Tisha.

And Jeffrey Tandoh known in showbiz circles as Skinny Willis who now runs the affairs of Zylofon Music says Ghanaians ain’t seen nothing yet because the label is yet to drop more pleasant surprises.

Talking to Graphic Showbiz after the unveiling ceremony at the Zylofon Complex(former Richester Hotel), East Legon, Skinny Willis said “Zylofon Music never died as people thought. The company is still functioning, it never went anywhere and Ghanaians should just watch out for us.

“We were just strategising so Ghanaians should just wait and see what we have to offer. We are coming out big and that is what people should know.

Asked why the big artistes left the label just around the time Menzgold got into trouble, Skinny Willis explained that they leaving had nothing to do with Menzgold and that their contracts ended and were not renewed.

“The fact that some artistes left after their contracts ended does not mean the label collapsed. We still have rapper Obibini and singer Kumi Guitar on the label so no one should even think Zylofon is not functioning.

“As we talk now, there are a lot of things we would be doing but currently our focus  is on signing up talented underground artistes and projecting them onto the international market” he said.

He also went on to explain that Zylofon Music is a different entity from Menzgold so people need to separate the two.

“Our CEO, Nam 1(real name Nana Appiah Mensah) is not even directly involved with Zylofon Music. The label is run by different people” he added.
